George Carroll Harris

Doctor of Divinity 1903

Harris, an Episcopal priest, also served as a Confederate chaplain. His father owned a plantation, Waco Place, and supported pro-slavery politicians. Harris , who lived in Mississippi, was nominated by the Bishop of Louisiana for his honorary degree, which he received in 1903.
